It is almost that time of year again, and as usual, I am way behind on shopping, decorating, etc. I figure that as long as I get everything accomplished by Christmas Eve, I am doing well. We put the Christmas lights outside the house last night; by this morning though, baby Jesus and Santa Claus were on the ground. The weather in Memphis is much like my mood; it changes all the time!
We spent our Thanksgiving holiday in Georgia with all of our family; it was wonderful. Not only was Uncle Charle's and Charlie's desserts to die for, but Aunt Louise's butter beans were scrumptious. In fact, Madison did not leave one butter bean on her plate.
Probably one of the best parts of the trip was playing cards at the kitchen table. We have been doing this since I was small. Jason and I would make Mom and Aunt Louise stay up until two in the morning playing UNO. Other than St. Simon's Island and shopping at the mall, I will always remember playing cards in Georgia......while Celeste cleaned the kitchen!
The holidays are such a special yet busy time! We all need to remember that the gifts will be forgotten in a few weeks, the tree dies, the wrapping paper crinkles, and the food is eaten; but, JESUS, who is the reason for celebrating, is eternal, shining, glorious, and true.
Christmas cards are late as usual.....but, as always, they will get there!
